Let me explain myself a bit more.

Our every function of our body requires a complex coordination of our muscles and nervous system. Proper muscle alignment and function is key to our everyday mobility and functional dynamics. When one muscle group is out of balance, our body starts using other muscles to compensate so we can execute our actions. This is one of many remarkable survival techniques our body has to preserve us, so we don't even realise there's a problem until we start to feel pain or have an injury. By then it is considered a chronic problem. A problem that started a long time ago, and you didn't realise until now.

Lower back pain is one of the most common ailments we all can relate to. More often than not, the pain you feel in your lower back originates further down your posterior chain. Having a sedentary job, or having to sit all day can lead to a deactivation of one of our major leg muscles – the gluteals, leading to tight hip flexors. The tightness in your hip flexors, results in an antagonistic lengthening and subsequent weakness of your gluteus maximus (buttocks area). This weakness of your glutes, leads to lower back pain, sore knees and further compensation of other muscles being activated to execute simple movements, such as, standing up and sitting down!
